AZV ČR and BBMRI.cz concluded a memorandum of cooperation
The Agency for Health Research (AZV) ČR and the large research infrastructure BBMRI.cz - Biobanking and BioMolecular resources Research Infrastructure Czech Republic entered into a Memorandum of Cooperation in November 2024.
BBMRI.cz is the Czech node of the European research infrastructure BBMRI-ERIC (Biobanking and Biomolecular Resources Research Infrastructure - European Research Infrastructure Consortium) and is coordinated at the national level by the Masaryk Institute of Oncology in Brno. The primary goal of BBMRI.cz is long-term archiving of biological material and associated data under standardized conditions - so-called biobanking. Quality clinical material plays an irreplaceable role in validation and acceleration of scientific knowledge into practice.
"Our common goal is to develop relationships, share and deepen our experience, knowledge and skills - especially in areas such as data management, biobanking and the quality of biological material used in biomedical research and development," says Chair AZV ČR prof. Ondřej Slabý, adding that the two institutions involved declare their interest in cooperating to address challenges related to the collection of biological material, its processing, quality control and archiving, along with the management of data associated with biological material, which may be of a different nature.
"We want to promote collaboration in education, awareness of data management and the importance of sourcing quality biological material. This commitment can be reflected in realistic timelines or planning for the use of funds in project applications for dedicated support from the Ministry of Health ČR or in undergraduate or postgraduate training in translational and biomedical research," suggests O. Slabý.
