Amendment of the Programme for the Support of Applied Health Research 2024-2030 (NW Programme) - extension of Sub-programme 3: "European Partnerships in Health"

The Government ČR by its Resolution No. 335 of 22 May 2024 approved the amendment of the Programme for the Support of Medical Applied Research for 2024-2030 (code NW). The amendment consists in the addition of Subprogramme 3: "European Partnerships in Health", under which it is planned to launch a total of 6 to 7 co-funded transnational calls with a contribution from the European Commission for each European Partnership. At national level, the calls will be managed by the Agency for Health Research of the Czech Republic (AZV ČR ), which will further specify the eligibility criteria and obligations of Czech applicants. Participation in the European Partnerships in Health represents a significant opportunity for Czech applicants to take their research to a higher level, which also means a significant benefit for ČR as an EU Member State. The aim of Sub-Programme 3 is to enable the Czech research community to participate in transnational calls launched under the European Partnerships in Health covering topics not covered by other Horizon Europe Framework Programme programmes and thus to join broad consortia seeking support from other Horizon Europe Framework Programme implementation instruments to address complex problems requiring the interaction of a large number of actors and countries.

The total expenditure for the duration of Subprogramme 3 in the years 2025-2030 (i.e. for the period during which co-funded transnational calls for the duration of the European Partnerships in Health will be announced) is expected to amount to CZK 337.5 million from the state budget expenditure on research, development and innovation, while the financing of Subprogramme 3 will be implemented according to the possibilities of the state budget. The total expenditure for Sub-programme 3 is allocated over the duration of Sub-programme 3 in accordance with the expected phasing of transnational calls and in relation to the expected three-year duration of the projects.
